Belle Vue holds a special place in the greyhound racing record books because the very first race round an oval track in Britain was staged there on July 24, 1926. More than 1,700 people were attracted to the meeting and they watched a greyhound called Mistley win over 440 yards. The track has always been the property of GRA, which has invested heavily in it right through to the current day.
